All the videos on my website are embedded from Youtube. From what little information I can find Youtube is testing turning off videos for certain users that are not logged into a Youtube account or using a VPN to view videos. If you have a Youtube account, please try logging in and see if you can then view the videos on https://mvotd.com. If you're using a VPN, try turning it off to view the videos. There are a few other work arounds but they are pretty confusing to use. If you have the skills you might try searching Google for "Youtube Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" for a fix. I didn't see any that looked easy. Our best hope is that Youtube completes their test and realizes this is a big mistake. Until then, please check in daily to see if you still getting the error message. Sorry it took so long to figure out what was going on with this. Mel

  • Rose Jones Added Enjoyed looking to the past. thank you for sending the mail,
Merry Christmas to you and your family
  • Debbie Added I remember this time in my life - thanks for the memories...
  • mercedes Added Thanks Mel---this was very entertaining!
  • Wandakate Added Remember most of it including paper dolls and a dream house with its only little furniture with and it was 2 stories. I remember the hoola hoop and chinese checkers and bubble gum machines. Saw none of that here but I remember about 90% of all that was shown. Thanks for the memories. I got polio from the injection. It never goes away. It just gets progressively worse. Polio with spactic paralysis. I remember those brown braces that I used to wear on my left leg and all that therapy and kids making fun of me. Loved the Beatles and the Jackson 5. The Supremes and Ed Sullivan. Those were the good old days.
  • Su B Added Yep. Had the skirt, without the poodle. (I never wore saddle shoes, either.) Still have some 45s and a machine to play them on. I received a Flub-A-Dub puppet and promptly took the strings off which allowed him to ride my shoulder. There's a song in the movie Bye Bye Birdie that personifies the goal to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show. (The Ed Sullivan Theatre is still in use, currently the home for the Steven Colbert show, among others.) And the Slinky! The idea was to find a slope to walk the Slinky.

Ah, yes. I remember it well. Thanks, Mel.
  • Ernie Added I'm not a baby boomer, I am older and they classify me as a member of the greatest generation even though I was too young to go fight in the war. I remember all of this and it has been a great journey, I've seen pretty much everything except for the dinosaursl (:
  • Marty Added I was born in 1958 so I don't remember a few of these things, Poodle Skirts, Sock Hops and Howdy Doody, but I do remember some others, like Slinky, Ed Sullivan, the polio shot and, since we lived only 50 miles west of Cape Canaveral, we used to watch rockets go up from our front yard! That was very exciting! Thanks Mel!
  • Sandi Angel Added Oh yes, I remember those days well. Actually, as I was watching it, I felt sorry for the kids of today--and the past many years, because they have never learned to love life like we all did. They are constantly on there cell phones and don't notice the beauty of the grass or sky. I miss those days. Remember the song "Lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer"--Yah
  • RiverRat58 Added Like a really fun walk through my history. Born in '40 those were my high school years & love bringing those memories back. What a kinder, nicer world we were blessed to grow up in after the war. Thanks for the memories.
  • Mary Jane Added Being born in 1955, I was too young to experience a few of these, but I do remember them, except Howdy Doody, never saw it.
  • Annette Added Items from my past - loved it! Remembered class mate Cynthia who had polio summer after first grade; and Elizabeth Ann who had a poodle skirt!
  • Marilyn Added loved it
  • Sher Added Good memories... :)
  • Kathy Added Oh how I remember those days and events.
