One of the first activities that Fhandee engaged in after a long rescue journey to Elephant Nature Park, was to walk to the mud pit and slather herself head to toe. It’s a glorious sensation for an elephant and serves so many useful purposes. Sadly, it is not the typical experience of most captive working elephants. One day that will be seen as a dire deprivation and hopefully made a criminal neglect. A wonderful rescue story. I get that some countries need them to do some manual labor, there just is no reason that they can't be treated relatively well while they are doing that labor. So, her retirement looks very good and gunky on her -- LOL. Enjoy your days sweetheart.
