  • Cindy Added My husband and I liked the video! The only part that seemed to be missing was the local churches and families going to church on Sunday. You mentioned buying shoes for Sunday, but that's it. I think this addition would add to the total look of family life in the 50"s.

The man coming toward the camera and directly under the "U" in Drug . . . and there appears to be several ladies of color walking the other way right next to him. And the photo appears to be in Hollywood (CA or FL, unsure), you can see the name on the bus. Please stop looking for something to complain about and just enjoy the point of the video. Geez.
  • CharMaine Added You know what they say: Once an adult, twice a child. I was a child then and I just relived those precious moments when life was simple and so much fun. Our Constitution was the law of the land and we honored it. It was some of the best of America. Challenges but we worked through them in civilized ways. So grateful to have been around for that. Thank you so much, Mel, for the ride down Memory Lane. :-)
  • Patrick Added Those were definitely wonderful times. Folks were friendly as were the people that worked in the shops. It was always a pleasure to go downtown and walk around. So sad those days are gone forever.
  • Margaret Added I certainly remember all this, but you didn't include the movie theaters where we could spend our dime on Saturday afternoon and see a double header, newsreel and cartoon.
