Video Description:

Meet Bretagne: the last known living search and rescue dog who worked at Ground Zero.

As members of Texas Task Force 1, Bretagne and her mom/handler Denise Corliss had an intense first deployment They joined nearly 100 other search and rescue dogs to find and save people trapped in the rubble of the World Trade Center after 9/11. They’ve had an unshakable bond ever since.

After hearing Bretagne’s story and learning that her 16th birthday was coming up, there was no question in our minds that she deserved a Dog’s Best Day for the ages.

To celebrate her birthday and thank her for her incredible service, we were honored to team up with the dog-lovers at 1 Hotels to bring this New York City hero and her mom back to the city for the ultimate Dog’s Best Day.

This was very unusual and especially wonderful to watch.

Just got to this video. While my comments likely won't been seen, my thoughts remain. Thank you Bretagne for tackling the impossible. My gratitude to Denise for your contribution to mankind. Doing the math, she was a pup during 9/11. Made 16 (a wonderful life serving). This video has to be a few years old. So I would guess she is over the Rainbow Bridge. Where she met Jesus and all those that perished on 9/11. No doubt she heard: "Welcome home, thou good and faithful servant". Today they all rest in peace and in His presence. Thank you, Mel, for posting this. We must never forget 9/11. May the Lord's hand of protection be upon this ungrateful nation.

    Thanks Mel

The call to save and serve is in the DNA of some humans. A fully trained canine knows that they are needed and loved. That is enough for any creature on earth.

It touch me to the core - I know how our fur babies that are pets & working pets can make such a difference on anyone...Thank you for this video.

I don't support humans using dogs, or any other animals, which includes putting them in possibly very dangerous and life-threatening situations. Humans can give true informed consent, dogs cannot. It's not fair to the dogs. Find another way.

Good job with the dog in the picture, I love all dogs, and thank you for this wonderful video.

Very touching indeed. Some of those found by Bretagne in the ruins should have been invited also.

This was lovely, but I couldn't help buy think the money spent on this dog could have been spent on a child in need.

How absolutely cool that Bretagne is still with Denise Corliss and you can tell she loved all her gifts and the treatment she received in New York. Thank you, Bretagne and Denise for everything you accomplished after 9/11.
