He walked out of his quarantine enclosure to his new forest home. After 36 years of living in small unnatural spaces, the open door caused a moment of hesitation to greet his new world. Halfway along the route, he even looked like he might turn around toward the safety and comfort of what he has known. With some minor coaxing, he pressed on toward his own kingdom, and now, surrounded by jungle and fresh grass abundant, he can forage on his own, and finally become an elephant again. Thanks to everyone who supported the construction of Kaavan’s Kingdom. Thanks to every voice that helped to sound Kaavan's road to freedom. Darrick and his team have dedicated the better part of a year creating a home for this beautiful boy. Now it is time to celebrate the freedom of Kaavan.
