How do goats beat the heat? They relax in the barn! #Video
Description
It’s not always crazy hopping…Goats are also contemplative nappers! The goats looked so sweet relaxing and napping in their clean stalls this afternoon that I just had to share them with you. It has been so hot in Maine (in the high 80s every day) and the goats are tired of it. Having a clean cool barn to relax in helps. We also bring them fresh water 3 times a day and give them free choice minerals which because they are salty encourage them to drink more. The minerals also help keep them healthy since we don’t have enough copper and selenium in Maine soil. Their coats look so shiny and healthy so I know they are getting plenty of both! Belle and her two tiny babies and Sweet Pea and her two kids are with the herd for the first time today and doing great. It can be a little overwhelming for the kids to learn how to find their moms in a crowd, but I think the mothers love being back with all their goat buddies. I usually try to keep my voice out of videos, but I know many of you know the herd and like refresher on their names so this is for you!
