Tink is so lucky to be found by you. Parakeets do occassionally get outside by accident. My uncle had one they named "Peewee" and they adored him. One day my uncle forgot Peewee was sitting on his shoulder and stepped outside to go somewhere. Peewee flew up into a tall tree chattering freely. They tried their best to catch him but couldn't. A week later, someone several blocks away saw a parakeet sitting in the middle of the street and it was Peewee. He was exhausted and they picked Peewee up, and called my uncle who had placed an ad in the local paper. They were so happy to get him back safe and sound. Peewee lived a long, happy life and was a treasured family favorite. He could say his name, and few other words.
