Description

Hello and welcome back everyone. Have you ever owned a classic Mini car or have you ever wanted to own one? Let's see the story.

In 1959, in the midst of post-war austerity and fuel shortage, Englishman Sir Alec Issigonis, ingeniously turned a crisis into an opportunity. He came up with a unique minimalistic car design, that can save on fuel while offering a creative use of space.

When Morris Mini car was launched in the summer of 1959, it caused a sensation with its new revolutionary concept. It was tiny with front mounted engine, built-in gearbox, front-wheel drive, fully independent suspension and spacious enough to accommodate four people in complete comfort. There were even a performance versions of the model that used the name Cooper, due to a partnership with racing legend John Cooper.

British Minis also became popular with celebrities and many of them owned one, including Enzo Ferrari. In fact Ferrari was so impressed with the car, he owned two Minis. One was a special custom made model that was personally delivered to him by Sir Issigonis.

The last classic Mini, left production line in year 2000 and was replaced with new Mini model in 2001 by BMW.

In this video, we have put together a collection of vintage photos showing celebrities proudly posing in front of their classic vintage Mini cars in the 1960s and 1970s.
