Description

Cars in the 1960s were starting to change. People were wanting power and auto manufactures were delivering on those demands. Body styles were sleek and the cars were large. No one had any concern over gas prices or miles per gallon. The 60s gave way to some iconic cars such as the Mustang and Camaro which have remained popular to this day. In this video we will have a look at some 1960s snapshots of people with cars.

  • Ron Bliss Added I was married in 1959. In 1961 my wife and I and young child made a trip to Ft. Lauderdale Florida to visit a buddy. We had a Volkswagen beetle that got thirty miles to a gallon and gas was 29 cents a gallon. The trip was three thousand miles round trip and it cost us thirty dollars total for gas for the entire trip. Today I can't buy one tank of gas for that price.
