Video Script::
welcome back ladies and gents on today's show the Wrangler gets a hemming the Bronco loses its roof and the new Supra may finally get the engine it deserves plus we're discussing which cars of today are collectibles of tomorrow I'm Tiffany stone and this is haggerty's daily driver let's buckle up first up Jeep decided to crash the Bronco party this weekend they announced the gladiator will get a diesel giving a much needed dose of torque and efficiency but the big story is the rendering of the v8 Wrangler Jeep posted this photo to Facebook early Saturday morning it shows the hood of a Wrangler with a badge that says 392 the 392 also known as a 6.4 Hemi has powered the Charger Challenger and the Jeep srt8 if you thought your Wrangler needed more grunt this should do it in the 2019 challengers scat pack the 392 made 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque now that's 200 more horsepower than the current Wranglers v6 okay let's break it down for a minute so you know I Drive a wrangler named Lucifer and to be honest I've already actually driven a modified Wrangler with the 6.4 in it and at first I wanted to hate it well because you know you know you know I just wanted to hate it but honestly it turned out so much better than expected and I loved it but I'm done rambling moving on in a response to the rendering of Ford's North American Communication Manager Mike Levine he tweeted someone is nervous shots fired now we love it when car companies get into fights over who's going to bring us the most powerful off-roader which is better than the most overpriced crossover and next we are only a few hours away from the Broncos official release but yet we've got another look at the new truck Friday evening website Bronco 6g posted a photo of a roofless doorless Bronco tearing through some sand now this is a big deal why you ask because if you take the doors off of a new Jeep the mirrors go with them this drives Jeep owners nuts and there are a lot of aftermarket solutions which none of them are perfect but on the new Bronco guess what the mirrors stay in place the photo also gives us a clearer look at the front ends clever corner indicators and built-in roll bar so let's see round lights check frameless windows check removable doors double check shots fired again Ford will livestream the Broncos official debut tonight at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on its YouTube channel and come back to Haggerty calm /media tonight for more photos and a look at the new truck are you on Team Wrangler or team Bronco let us know in the comments and finally for the 2021 model year Toyota is raising the supras output from 335 to 382 horsepower but more could be on the way best car Webb reported that the anticipated uber fast Supra could get the 510 horsepower engine from the bmw m3 now the power would be fed to the supras rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission the empower super could fall into Toyotas grm and lineup no we didn't mispronounce German gr MN is Toyota's high-performance brand their AMG if you will will see if that's what it'll actually be badged they've built an amazing supercharged yars we can't buy in the US so hopefully the Supra doesn't see a similar restriction only time will tell coming up want to know which new cars will be future collectibles we might the answer I'll be talking to haggerty's eric weiner about our 20/20 collector list but first a totally new concept in transportation and versatility is its middle name the bronco is a roadster wide open all fun and adventure it's a question every car enthusiast thinks about which cars on sale today will be the collectibles of tomorrow we looked at auctions of old cobras Ferraris and even Honda Civics and wonder which car will be next today we have haggerty's own eric weiner to help us figure it out thank you so much for joining us Eric you recently published the haggerty's hot list what is the criteria for the list and what is it made of well these cars are really what our evaluation experts are sort of expecting to be the collector cars of the future and you know we're looking deep into the future so it could be 10 20 30 40 50 years some of these cars will be collectors right out of the box and others will take a little bit of time to fully gain traction in the market but we're really looking at what defines a classic over that long stretch of time and that can be anything it can be a performance car it could be something that is rare it can be something that tends to be the defining feature of a model lineage or sort of the first or last of a models evolution so pretty much all the cars on this list fit that well going off of that I see that there is the 2020 Shelby gt500 now what's new about the Shelby that earned the spot well for one it's the most powerful Ford Road car ever it's 74 60 horsepower so that alone is a pretty significant feature but this is the ultimate Mustang of this current generation and it really brings the fight to the Nurburgring dominating Camaro well preserving a lot of those elements that make it sort of a more liveable daily driver you're getting supercar performance first you know $75,000 but that being said it's pretty light on consumables on the track it's pretty easy to live with and it has all these crazy exotic colors you know quicker pins for the carbon fiber wheels I mean there's a lot of stuff that will really make this car stand out in the future and for Mustang lovers and for Shelby enthusiasts it really is an all-in-one package for ultimate performance well if you are a Shelby lover there's gonna be a little bit of competition for you in the new Corvette now Corvettes are not rare but what makes it so different that this year's appreciation will go up in value for the 2020 for sure for the Corvette you're right certainly not rare but this is the historic moment in the evolution of the Corvette because it's the first mid-engine Corvette and it's something that's been you know part of the story of the Corvette in background since it's done toff in 1957 and over a long period of time there have been many concepts and rumors and engineers ticking and fiddling behind the scenes thinking what if and and it's finally here you know there was a false start in the late part of the 2000s with GM bankruptcy that sort of delayed the plans for the managing Corvette then but it's finally here now and and you know much like the Mustang you're getting supercar performance for a totally reasonable price in this case the base car starting is $60,000 that's the kind of performance that you know most people think you have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to get so this is a really important moment in the Corvette history that's so amazing I kind of actually want a Corvette now but of one car that people probably wouldn't expect on the list is the Polestar one now give us a quick rundown of what the Polestar is and why it is so special for sure yeah the pulsar one is personally you know one of my favorites and it's just so stunningly beautiful it's this piece of rolling sculpture and sort of the reason for that is that it's it's really a concept car come to life it was a 2013 Volvo concept that was penned by designer Thomas England laughs who now is the head of full star and it's the first pulsar Road car ever it'll be limited production so there's only going to be 1500 of them built over the course of three years and only 150 or so that are going to be found for North America so this is a really rare and special car and it is pricey for sure it's 156 thousand dollars there's no getting around that but at that price level there's really nothing else like it it has this like very calm cool presence and although it is really heavy you know more than 5,000 pounds it handles incredibly well and you get you know many miles of plug-in hybrid capability as well so you can live in a daily basis carbon-fiber body Owens adjustable dampers it has a lot going on and there's no question that if you have that car nobody else on your block or probably in your zip code or state was gonna have it that's something that just makes me giggle that you're like nobody will ever have that so definitely get that one but speaking of some things that you just mentioned do you ever think that there will be electric cars to get on the list sometime soon definitely and that's something we absolutely considered this time around I think if we had been you know doing this list 10 years in the past and we've been talking about the Model S that certainly would be on it I think that electric cars absolutely have a place and having a plug-in hybrid on the list I think is certainly getting there I think a lot of dealers we wrote in our story you know certainly some people will think that we've made some grave and justices and leaving some cars out I think that there's certainly a case to be made for the Porsche taken given that Porsches you know everything with a Porsche bag over the last eight nine years has been highly collectible in many cases right out of the box and to take on being first electric I certainly think there's a case to be made for that well thank you so much Eric for checking in we don't want to give it all away so if you want to read the complete list head over to Haggerty the link is in the description safe driving everyone you
