Video Description:

I colorized, restored and created a sound design for this video of Los Angeles in the 1950s, a city that at the time was rapidly expanding with new freeways, bustling downtown streets, and sprawling neighborhoods stretching into the San Fernando Valley. The footage captures the unique atmosphere of postwar Los Angeles, where modern cars, neon signs, and palm-lined boulevards reflected both the glamour of Hollywood and the everyday life of Angelenos in a city that was becoming the symbol of America’s automobile-driven future.

Video Restoration Process:
FPS boosted to 60 frames per second
Image resolution boosted up to HD
Improved video sharpness and brightness
Colorized only for the ambiance (not historically accurate)
added sound only for the ambiance
restoration:(stabilisation,denoise,cleand,deblur)

Please, be aware that colorization colors are not real and fake, colorization was made only for the ambiance and do not represent real historical data.

That was wild. Some of that was clearly "staged" -- everyone wanted to be in the "movies" back then. Even regular folk. It was amazing with all that crazy turning into traffic, there wasn't an accident captured. Pretty much still drive like that in LA. I enjoyed this adventure, thanks Mel.
