You’re invited to a goat pajama party! #Video

You know what you need? A few minutes at a goat pajama party. It’s pretty much guaranteed to chase away your blues and leave you feeling hoppy! (Watch until the end if you’re interested in how we put the pajamas on!)

Many farmers have something on hand in case kids are born on a night that is below freezing. Heat lamps, pajamas, sweaters, coats all can do the trick to get them through those first hours when it is so essential that they get their mom‘s first milk. That colostrum provides the immunity they need to succeed in their first year! It is so important for getting them off to a good start, but brand new goats can lose their sucking reflex if they get too chilly.

Sweet friends of the farm (beginning with Stella) have been making these pajamas for us over the last 15 years and now we have so many gorgeous pairs that we have to show them off at least a couple times a year, even when it’s not necessary for the goats to wear them to stay warm.

A lot of farming is daily logistics and the serious stuff of making sure every animal stays healthy and happy. So some days it’s fun to do something purely for the joy of it. This is one of those days, and we wanted to invite you along for all the fun.

I had high hopes of editing this down into a shorter video, but I just couldn’t cut out any of the hops of our beautiful first 15 kids. I know I probably say this every year, but I think these are the most delightful batch we have ever had. Super spotty and they climb right up on your lap for attention.
