    I don't think when someone suggests to look for the silver lining is not acknowledging the difficult situation, I believe they are simply saying perhaps it would be better to focus on the good that will come from the challenge and try not to focus on the difficulty of the situation so much. Acknowledging the problem is healthy, focusing on what comes next is better. You never want to stay in that pity pot. That will keep you depressed. What good can come from this situation is what I believe is meant. Just my opinion. BTW, I use this phrase quite a bit. No matter the crisis, I, as quickly as possible, step over to "The sunny side of the street.". :-)
