Video Description:

In this episode, we explore how evolution, genetics, and even a special eggshell protein called ovocleidin-17 help explain where chickens and eggs really came from. You’ll learn why eggs existed long before chickens, how the first “true” chicken was born, and why this question is more scientific than you might think.

So, is it the chicken, the egg, or something in between? Watch till the end to find out!

Question not answered. Dinos also laid eggs, so which came first, dino or egg?

  • Clyde

if the egg came first, then after it hatched and matured, where was another chicken to fertilize the eggs produced by this newly matured chicken? Just as God created Adam and Eve with the appearance of age (not as newborn babes) so also he must have created the animals.

I believe the chicken came first. God created all the animals back in the Garden of Eden. Adam's job was to name them. That includes the chicken. Yes, it evolved over time. Lile everything else (us included), but the chicken was here first. According to my Bible. I admit I did use to wonder but the more I read the Bible, the more I understand God's plan. And He is the Creator of all things. Including and especially -- us.

The original question using the word "chicken" is not an accurate usage of the word. So not answerable!

I am a science believer, egg first

Read what Randy just said. That's how it is.

Hogwash! God made the chicken and He made them to reproduce by laying eggs. Evolution?! I'm surprised at you, Mel.

  • Ham Todd

    Certainly, a thought stimulating video!

God made birds and then they evolved. I won't argue with others on the subject.

IN THE BEGINNING GOD MADE THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH...

Enjoyed this video on which came first ~ have had chickens since I was 5 yr old so my take on it ~ or my answer, is the chicken was first as if the egg = chick ~ was, what would take care of the baby chicks! Chicks need their mom to care for them. So think the answer the chicken was first makes more sense (to me) than the egg was first!

Remember, dinosaurs laid eggs before chickens even existed. Today's chickens are most probably the modern versions of dinos become chickens. Perhaps scientists should look for shell proteins in the dino eggs found here and there!

The fact that a bird (almost a chicken); created a “chicken”, the term species is a misnomer. The bird - chicken is still a bird. NOT A NEW SPECIES. Darwin said “without the fossil evidence - my theory is just a theory.” There is no fossil evidence of one species turning into a new species. Evolution just creates changes in adaptability - but not a new species. Like a fish becoming a rabbit - or a rabbit becoming an elephant. A bird is still a bird, changed or adapted to environment - but remains the same SPECIES.
