Description
Then and Now: Chaba, Pyi Mai, Jai Dee, and Lek Lek.
Desolation and despair are evident in the captive mother and baby elephants before their rescues. The mums are typically chained in small concrete enclosures, while the frightened babies stay close by, their wide eyes filled with fear and uncertainty.
When they arrive at Elephant Nature Park (ENP), their lives begin to change. Mums and their babies are provided with the space and security to explore and connect with other families at ENP at their own pace. Social connections are a cornerstone for an elephant's rich and fulfilling life, which is filled with care for one another, curiosity, and joy in playing, sharing food, and swimming together in the river.
At ENP, every baby elephant can grow up in a safe and loving environment, where they truly experience the life they were meant to have—one that is filled with happiness, freedom, and endless play.
