hello everyone there are people in the world who like to stand out from the crowd luckily for them there are countless ways to be weird from bizarre outfits to body modifications this is probably the easiest way to amaze everyone around you because people tend to pay special attention to those who are different however sometimes the way a person looks has nothing to do with fashion trends but with tradition today we're going to talk about fashion customs that can be hard to understand let's get it on face-kini the Western fashion industry forced people to believe that an even 10 is a symbol attractiveness that is why many people take their vacations in warm places and spend hours lying under the Sun those who can't travel though usually visit telling salons all year round however in Asia a 10 is not at all considered something beautiful moreover in many countries people do everything they can to avoid sun lights you've probably seen Chinese tourists carrying umbrellas everywhere even if it's not raining well in order to protect the skin from the insidious ultraviolet rays an interesting piece of clothing known as a face Keeney was invented in the chinese town of qingdao it is a tight mask with small openings for the eyes the nose in the mouth it kind of looks like a swimming cap only bigger it's fairly popular among Chinese beachgoers too we can't say it looks pretty but local girls are willing to do anything to keep their faces elegantly pale funnily enough the manufacturers and buyers of face Keeney's believe it does more than protecting your face from the Sun for example many Chinese people believe it also scares away jellyfish insects and even sharks supposedly orange masks are especially effective because see predators are most afraid of this color well at least those was some sellers of the strange accessory claimed guara Chara pointy boots are one of the most controversial trends in fashion history over the years it's been both the trend at the season or a sign of bad taste nowadays is not particularly popular on European catwalks but in Mexico for example pointy boots are very fashionable although these boots resemble a pair of weird skis rather than a pair of shoes these unusual boots are known as para chero boots just like the dance music genre that sparked this fashion tribe or Guara Chara this phenomenon originated at the beginning of the 21st century in the Mexican city of Mata Walla he was there that a young generation of DJ's began to mix African indigenous and contemporary music very quickly the new style grew into a whole subculture and soon there were lots of wire a chair at parties and festivals all over the country one of the main elements of the Guara chair outfit is skinny jeans in combination with pointy cowboy boots at first it was just an extra couple of inches but at some point the trend started to get a little out of hand in order to stand out from the crowd many followers of this style began to make unusual boots with half a metre long toes and today Mexican youngsters even have a Paget for the longest watch era and who cares if they're incredibly uncomfortable to wear suppers perhaps you've heard of the so called Teddy boys that was the name of the English young men that walk clothes partly inspired by the style of dandies from the Edwardian period a similar phenomenon also existed in the USSR these Soviet dandies were known as still yagi as they try to imitate Western lifestyle both of these subcultures had disappeared at the end of a 20th century but similar subculture starts to appear all over the world and perhaps the most striking example are the audacious dandies from both congos who call themselves suckers it's very difficult not to notice them among the humble African landscapes as a rule suppose we're colorful clothes and expensive accessories at the same time they pay special attention to the brands of their outfits only the most luxurious fashion labels are accepted such as eve-san Laurent Versace or Prada you probably think that they're gangsters or own million dollar worth businesses right well that's not the case in fact most Congolese dandies are ordinary workers so where did they get the money for all this expensive stuff you might wonder well they actually don't have any money in order to look elegant almost all suppose incur debts and use the money they've saved over the years to buy fancy suits while living in rather deplorable conditions nevertheless for African dandies it's not just a trend but a way of life suppose not only where I caching outfits but also actively promote peace call for social justice and advocate for a polite and considerate attitude towards others also to communicate among themselves they use a special lingo which ordinary people will hardly understand other people's hair China Vietnam Laos Thailand and Myanmar are home to a group of people known as than Miao there are about 11 million of these people and their way of life is fully based on these centuries-old traditions of their ancestors one of the most remarkable customs of these people is preserved today in a few small villages in China all women there must wear an unusual crescent-shaped wooden clip on their heads but that's not all later on this accessory is wrapped with real hair which is passed from mother to daughter for centuries for Miao people it's a way to show respect towards their family of course women today no longer wear these fancy headdresses every day it's inconvenient and impractical however every adult woman should have a wig like this at home and wear it on holidays and special occasions the huge lump of hair that's been collected for centuries from the combs of ancient relatives is fastened with white woollen threats in total the whole hairstyle including the clip can weigh up to 6 kilograms just imagine women used to wear this on their head every single day core Twix in the modern world weeks are usually worn in order to change your look for one evening also hide a bald head but in the past this accessory had a much more meaningful purpose for example in 17th century France wearing wigs was a sign of elite aristocracy while in Britain at the same time they were worn by supporters of the Kings power also in the 17th century another tradition emerged in English courts a mandatory use of wigs by judges and lawyers and while the love for fake curls is mostly long gone in other areas of modern life the British legal system retains this tradition to this day and so recently it was strictly forbidden to remove the Whigs during a hearing there were no exceptions even in case of extreme heat one of the reasons for this tradition is that the wig helps justice officials to remain partially anonymous today wigs are no longer required during family or civil courts appearances but they are still used in criminal cases however this tradition was abandoned in past due to the cost of making the wicks themselves a wig made of horse hair can cost almost two thousand dollars long nail goddess long fingernails which were trendy in the 2000s are making a comeback but nails can be long in different ways you've probably never seen nails as long as these this is Tammy Dunn moth the wife of a Baptist pastor in Newark in New Jersey her unusual style as nothing in common with a common image of a religious person however Tammy argues that her self-expression is in no way contradictory to the worship of God and she and her followers call themselves the long nail goddesses to take care of her nails Tammy has to spend 4 to 5 hours a week in a nail salon side-by-side with her fellow goddesses at the same time the woman claims that she doesn't experience any discomfort in a daily life despite her unusual manicure she uses contact lenses whereas nylon tights and cleans the kitchen according to her she's just gotten used to it the Botswana rockers remember the post-apocalyptic outfits from the famous Mad Max movie well you might think that you're looking at a backstage video from its ring these people's outfits are very unusual but it's more complicated than that in fact these are metalheads attending a festival in African Botswana a place that hardly comes to mind when you think of rockers leather jackets and motorcycles the event gathers many fans of heavy music every year and it's not just crazy teenagers as you might think in fact at the festival you can meet all kinds of people from students to priests and of course they bond over their love for rock and roll sagging remember how rap stars at the beginning of the 21st century used to wear jeans below the waist this strange fashion was their thing just like leather jackets are associated with rockers in fact there's a whole story behind this trend known as sagging it originated in American prisons in the 80s where prisoners often had to wear garments of the wrong size and wearing belts to hold those huge trousers was clearly forbidden this feature was noticed by some rappers who speak about social issues in their songs and thus decided to express solidarity with the prisoners in addition many former prisoners also continued to sag their pants after being released the trend quickly became fashionable over the years almost all performers and fans of rap music started sagging their jeans ten years later the US government began to actively fight taggers so this habit began to quickly fade away today you can even get a fine for wearing your pants like this in the US and even go to jail the irony however echoes of this trend can still be found in the clothes of pop singers though not as revealing as before dude are you looking for new technologies and great gadgets are your thoughts
