Video Description:

I colorized, restored, and applied face restoration and sound design to this rare footage of New York in the late 1940s. The video captures vivid street scenes from Chinatown: unloading trucks on Mott Street, pedestrians passing under restaurant signs, Chinese residents entering eateries, and near-sighted locals reading newspapers on stoops. Supplies line the sidewalks, crates pile up in front of grocery stores, and street vendors arrange fruit carts while a pigeon lands on a sign at Mott and Bayard. Children in uniform walk past schools, cars weave through the narrow roads, and glimpses of modern buildings rise in the background
