I am 83. I am always telling my 83-year-old husband to pay attention when I pay the bills, and work the budget and remind him of my final wishes and what things are in our safe and who to contact if I pass before him, etc. etc. He doesn't pay attention and only says, "Oh I will go before you anyway.". So I made up 3 notebooks that have ALL the information he will need. It has taken me several months to put together, but it includes step-by-step instructions for him (or any family member with access to it). I also put money in a special joint savings account just for my funeral home expenses (and his). (My son and niece are also on the account. I see them about once a year.) At least I now feel my husband has the information and assets he will need to get him through when I die, or even if I just become totally incapacitated. (If neither of us is alive, then those notebooks are in our safe and my family has the combination.) I, personally, don't count on anyone other than myself. Most of my family is either deceased or senior citizens themselves. Whoever is the last person to take charge, please read the notebooks and don't forget to close the door behind you when you leave.

I never knew lonely until Janice, my wife, relocated to heaven. But it's been 5 years next month since she left me and went to see Jesus, but I know I will see her again one day. I have a wonderful family. We were never blessed with children, and most of my family lives in another state, but we keep in touch by phone and we see each other on occasion. Sometimes, once a year, but it's been about 3 years since I've seen my nephews and their families. I see my brother the most, because they live close by when they're not at their ranch in New Mexico. I have some friends who I go out to eat with sometimes. And I have my neighbors next door who are really good to me. My two best friends that I grew up with live in states too far to travel to. I also have my dog. I don't know what I'd do without him. The one that means the most to me is my Lord and Savior. I talk with Him every day, then I read His Word, the Bible. So, all in all, I'm doing pretty good. I have to share this video as I often do with the really good ones.

    79. I live alone and am not lonely. I have my quiet time with GOD morning and evening, and think of GOD throughout the day. I visit flowers in the morning and watch birds at all my meals, which I eat outside. I love them in the bird baths. I play piano. When I go to town about once a week, I love the interaction with people. I would like it if people called on the phone instead of texting but that seems to be the preferred way of being in touch. Days go by that I don't hear a human voice.
    I wish you weren't AI.

78, and I lean on God more than ever each passing day. Thank you for your very inspiring video - I think I just met a new friend to offer prayers for! You sound wonderful. God bless.

I'm 79. I lost my husband at 77 as well. Your truth is very comforting, as it is largely what I have discovered about being “alone.” One finds peace in following those few simple rules. Too much dependence leads to disappointment because it’s unreasonable.

  • Don Sundby

Excellent! My dependence on God drives my life. All else fits within that belief.

  • Lydia

It was great. She asked us to comment on our age. Wasn't sure how to but I'm the age she said she is now.

  • Ann

Still would rather hear all this from a REAL PERSON than an AI generated one. There, I said it.

Thank you Mel and the kind lady telling her story. I am also 82 and her story really hit home. I will begin today to put her words into motion in my life. My wife, my friends and my children are the ones I look to for happiness. I have lost my best friends to death and a lot more everyday friends. I still rely on my wife and my children way too much. I will start putting a plan together using her advice as a guide. Again, thank you Mel !!

Wow, so profound and beautiful. I'm 85+ and I do in fact, depend on my wife. This video will change me from this day forward. Thank you Faye,

Loved it! Wise words. I am pretty content! I appreciate hearing from, or seeing, my sons and grandchildren, but I do not depend on seeing them often. They are all busy. So am I! I am 83 and go to water aerobics 3 times a week and go to church on Sundays. I volunteer at our Community Center. I have many friends and great neighbors. I love to read and have quiet times at home. This video is filled with good advice & common sense. The only thing I lean on is our glorious God, and he listens!

Great wisdom, and something we all can gain from you, Faye. I am 85 with three children who are scattered throughout the country. My husband is soon to be 89 and we are still best friends. after 60 years married. I have a friend of 53 years who I speak with almost every day and we can talk about anything, and laugh out loud often. My children come to visit about 3 times a year and our grandson comes to spend a week at least twice each year to be with us. y two daughters call me at least twice a week or more. I feel blessed and will keep your message in my heart and mind. Thank you.

This was wonderful and I will share it with my widowed friends. I am twice widowed after two great marriages and know the truth in this. At this point, I'm 84 and am living according to the solutions offered here. May God bless you.

Thanks, Faye. I'm 77 and my wife's health has been diminishing. I love on her and serve her as well as she's taken care of me all of these 58 years. I have lost sleep fearing the loneliness that may come.
I pray my little***off and have learned to listen to God. He's telling me to stay busy and continue to serve others.

Great video. I'm 71 and hope I remember this as the years go by.
