Downy Woodpecker Behavior

Rare natural extended quality time with a male Downy Woodpecker in Backyard North, one of the smallest woodpecker, it is a scaled- down version of other woodpeckers. Here we see it working the bark of a locust tree and then taking a break for some preening. Its nice to see this bird in a natural setting away from feeders.
