Video Description:
The hardest part of this story is knowing something the dog cannot be told: its owner has passed away. Ten months of waiting makes that loss feel especially painful. It leaves me hoping this faithful companion has someone close by to offer comfort and care.

That is such a sad story. I think Jenny below is right. They can tell someone is gone and that probably would have given her the closure. But who would have thought of that at the time. The loss is usually devastating and I'm sure it wouldn't have occurred to me to make sure Sadie got closure. I have to assume Sadie is going to come out of it but it's probably going to take longer. The puppy should move that along. Poor Sadie. To the woman, I'm sorry for your loss. He was probably a wonderful man. I mean he rescued Sadie. Of course he's a good man.
She should have been given the chance to see her favorite person had pass. To physically see and smell and know he was gone. Many animals recognize death and do mourn. But, are able to better understand death means that the person or animals is truly gone and won't be coming back when they are given physical closure. I grew up on a farm. We had one little Southdown ewe that had a still birth. My dad let her keep the dead lamb for several hours. She still laid at the place she gave birth for a couple more days. Then she got up and started playing nanny to all the other lambs.
