Contrary Woman - Written by Greg Wohlgemuth — A Songwriter’s Truth | When the Words Aren’t Mine… Who Carries the Voice?
Most of what I release on this channel is written by me, and when it isn’t, I believe in saying so plainly.
“Contrary Woman” is a guest-songwriter collaboration built on lyrics by Greg Wohlgemuth, whose background ties into the era of the Charlie Daniels Band.
The vocal direction and instrumental foundation were shaped together, and I brought the visual side to life with Greg’s input and approval throughout.
I take pride in writing my own material, but every now and then you come across words that already carry their own weight. When that happens, the job isn’t to rewrite them — it’s to recognize them and give them a place to land.
Greg’s writing reflects that same straight-ahead tradition — grounded, human, and pulled from real experience rather than decoration.
The lyric is Greg’s.
Everything built around it was done in service to that core.
Two writers, different paths… same well.

Pinned Comment:
This one’s a little different. Most of what you hear on this channel is written by me — but when it’s not, I make that clear. “Contrary Woman” was written by Greg Wohlgemuth.
I stepped in on the voice, the sound, and the visuals — with Greg involved all the way through.
Sometimes you don’t change the words… you just carry them.
Glad you’re here. Pull up a chair anytime. ???????????? — Sam Dad
