Barn sounds on a snowy night! #Video

I love the sounds of the barn at night. When we have a storm, it is even a little more exciting during evening chores because all the goats get to eat inside.

There is some thing beautiful about a routine. The crunch of snow beneath boots as we move to and from the barn with buckets of hot water.  The demanding calls of goats waiting for their grain.  The rush of the herd when the stall doors creak open. The exited munching of grain! The reluctant shuffle of goats being corralled back into their safe stalls, where they will enjoy warm water and second cut hay before sleeping. The sound of barn broom on concrete, sweeping away the remnants of the day, so that we are ready for a fresh start in the morning. The sweet snuggles with the littlest goats who always get extra kisses Good night.  And often a little extra playtime with Don Pedro, who likes to get in the way of the broom and follow us around. I’ve always thought the whole thing was a little bit of a quiet dance.

Every day is a chance to begin again, an opportunity to sneak a little more love, a little more joy, a little more gratitude into our routine. The barn on a snowy night was a wonderful reminder of this!
