ABOUT THE SONG
"Bound For The Shore" is where the Delmore story begins. It was the very first song Alton Delmore ever wrote — composed in 1925, with his mother Mollie, who taught both brothers to sing. A year later, Alton and Rabon played their first contest together in Athens, Alabama. Nearly a century and more than a thousand songs later, this gospel number is the seed of it all.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
Billy Blue Records' own Appalachian Road Show has built its sound on the old songs of the mountains — the ballads, hymns and stories that shaped bluegrass. Their deep respect for tradition makes them the right band to carry the Delmores' first song forward, and they give it a heartfelt reading here in the studio.
