Check out some amazing photos of urban foxes taken here in the UK where foxes have been colonising our towns and cities since the 1930's. Attracted by a plentiful supply of food from bins and litter on the streets, the red fox's adaptable and opportunistic nature has made it a very successful urban resident. They prefer areas with large gardens where they can shelter beneath shrubbery, sheds and outbuildings or alongside railway tracks or in parks and other open spaces. They usually breed below ground in an 'earth' or 'den'. They are predominantly nocturnal, but in urban areas, it is not unusual to see an active fox during the day.
