Sometimes teaching social etiquette only requires a gentle nudge.
While Mae Noi was eating, young Lek Lek slowly walked up from behind and gently moved closer, wanting to eat with her. Mae Noi didn’t walk away, and she didn’t treat Lek Lek roughly. She simply used her body to gently move the little elephant slightly to the side—as if she were saying, “Take your time, little one. We can share the space.”
This brief moment shows us another beautiful side of elephants. Living together in a herd isn’t only about sharing food—it’s also about learning the rules, respecting each other’s space, and growing through experience.
And perhaps what Mae Noi was teaching Lek Lek wasn’t just about how to eat together. It may have been a small lesson for growing up in the big world ahead.
