The legendary "Split Window" is considered an iconic American automotive design. It also holds steady as one of the most collectable Corvettes. This one is a #s matching engine and factory colors. Ordered as a no-frills, high-performance machine. The 340 hp runs strong without the troubles of the fuel injection. It is an "early" model with the short stem mirror and storage tray under the seat. It includes a display board with NCRS shipping report and literature.
EXTERIOR: 1963-1967 coupes are more desirable than the roadsters because of their good looks and that is abundantly true of the 1963 because of that split in the window. The body on this car is excellent, I didn't see damage or cracking. It fits real well, doors shut like new and headlights open properly. Repainted it's original Riverside Red with a smooth and glossy finish. The chrome is shiny, the 1 year only hood inserts look new Real Kelsey Hays knock off wheels with KH cast on them. It's riding comfortably on radial tires.
INTERIOR: Great looking dash area. Correct gauges with the silver cone centers, they all work including the clock. Correct clear resin glovebox door looks new. The seats were reupholstered, door panels look new. Carpet front to back is good. It has the jack and lead hammer in the rear compartment. Interior lights work.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original VIN number matching 327-340 hp. We inspected the stamp pad, casting codes and dates. The 340 hp packed a punch! It featured high compression pistons, high lift cam, solid lifters and taller aluminum intake. It was also identified by finned aluminum valve covers. It still appears completely stock including air cleaner, ignition shielding, fuel filter, cooling system etc.
UNDERSIDE: This is the first year for front and rear independent suspension. Of course, we inspected it, there are several parts that look recent. The brake system is working properly, the e-brake is hooked up. New exhaust upgraded with stainless Magnaflow mufflers; the correct tips go out through the valance. The floors have been undercoated which makes a good sound deadener. The spare tire carrier is still in place. Looking up at the motor it is clean, has correct canister oil filter and lower ignition shielding. It has a correct T10 4-speed manual trans. In back is the original 3.55 posi dated and coded to this car.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and replaced the amp gauge, repaired the radio and antenna, adjustable the headlight door and replaced door locks.
This is a very nice example of a red # matching, high performance version of the iconic split window!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
