This what our home looked like when I was young! Fun one, Mel.

Age newborn to 12, the dining room was a real room, with doors and a cabinet lined walk-through to the kitchen. Ages 12 to 17 - the dining room was still a room, although there was an arch between it and the living room.
I still prefer real rooms and hallways to being able to walk in the front door and look out the back.
    Thanks Mel.

I was born in 1945 but I don't remember most of these things until the 60's. My family and friends did not decorate like this until the 1960's. Lots of memories however of that time.

I couldn't comment, the lay-out of the houses was totally foreign to me, brought upin a different society.

I lived through a lot of this. And I do believe that the term "gaudy" entered the American lexicon with some, just some, of this early decor. Really glad we have moved on and there is no going back to some of that for me. Just imagine, some of those houses cost what $30, 35K. The one with the pool maybe $60K. And let's not miss that she re-did her living room for under 50$. Definitely affordable. What a time in America . . .

The color combinations would not be to my liking but the furniture arrangements were nice.

I do miss the bathroom tile, but the rest of it you can keep.
