Video Description:

Step back into classic diners with tabletop jukeboxes, soda fountain counters, colorful diner lingo, and cigarette vending machines that once defined the restaurant experience. This video looks at vanished diner features like streamline moderne exteriors, open grill cooking, roller skating carhops, neon clocks, and revolving dessert cases. From penny scales to soda jerks, these mid century diners were filled with details modern restaurants no longer have.

You can still get some Diner Lingo at Waffle House . . . love that place. Pack of cigs for .25 cents. Oh my. LOL. Can you imagine a 1/4 lb. hamburger for .49 cents! There are still restaurants with Dessert Showcases around. I just bought a delicious pie from one last Feb when I was back home. So that one is not completely gone. Whew. Life was so much simpler back then. These days it's a rat race. Fun to remember video. Thanks Mel.
