For anyone getting message: "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot"
First try refreshing your browser or try another browser. If that doesn't work, read the following.
All the videos on my website are embedded from Youtube. From what little information I can find Youtube is testing turning off videos for certain users that are not logged into a Youtube account or using a VPN to view videos. If you have a Youtube account, please try logging in and see if you can then view the videos on https://mvotd.com. If you're using a VPN, try turning it off to view the videos. There are a few other work arounds but they are pretty confusing to use. If you have the skills you might try searching Google for "Youtube Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" for a fix. I didn't see any that looked easy. Our best hope is that Youtube completes their test and realizes this is a big mistake. Until then, please check in daily to see if you still getting the error message. Sorry it took so long to figure out what was going on with this. Mel
Description
A wonderful video of the Cranberry Bay Pack walking through a winter wonderland about 2 weeks ago when a snowstorm dropped ~12 inches of heavy wet snow across Voyageurs.
The video is particularly wonderful because it is yet another pack count of 6 wolves for the Cranberry Bay Pack. We have had several observations this winter of 6 wolves in this pack and every additional observation makes us more confident the pack is 6 wolves, no more and no less.
Interestingly, from what we can tell, the first 3 wolves in the video are all adults and the last 3 are pups. If we are correct, then this likely means that a Cranberry Bay pup died between November 2021 and January 2022 as all 4 pups were still alive as of November 2021 when the pack was 7 wolves.
At some point between November 2021 and January 2022, the pack decreased to 6 wolves indicating a pack member died or dispersed. Since it appears it was a pup that “disappeared” from the pack, we think death is more likely than dispersal. Still, 3 out of 4 pups surviving until 1 year old is pretty good and far better than most packs in our area!
