The rainy season is a favorite time of year for the elephants at Elephant Nature Park. They not only enjoy the rain but also the natural mud baths it provides. The joy and ease these elephants experience are clearly visible as they play.. Watching BuaThong (FaaMai’s mom), DokNgern (mother of ThongJan), ChangYim, DokMai, and DokRak slip and slide up and down the muddy mounds is a delightful sight.

As a free elephant, you can spend your days enjoying mud baths, or trips to the river, or eating to your heart's content; whatever suits you. Being a free elephant provides you with the chance to heal from the previous abuses you may have faced as an enslaved elephant. Here, a rescued elephant can build social and family connections, nourish and rebuild its body, and reconnect with nature, allowing an elephant to eventually remember the majestic being it was born to be.
