What a great family.
There are so many cool stories out there how our animals ended up joining different families. And so often whatever the circumstances prior, they ignore the past (we should try that as well) and ease into a new loving dynamic making them the critters God meant them to be. They overcome all kinds of obstacles. Truly amazing, given the right circumstances.
