Description
It is delightful to see that San Mueang is learning to relax and to enjoy simple pleasures such as playing with a ball. His recovery has been a slower one due to the significant trauma and violence against him when he went through the ‘crush box’ at three years old. Violence and pain intentionally inflicted on a baby by humans, and your mom not coming to your rescue (because she is not there) will have long-lasting traumatizing consequences on any sentient being.
Since San Mueang has been at Elephant Nature Park, he has started to feel the safety and healing the sanctuary brings, through the care of his mahout, other rescued elephants, and our support staff in the veterinarian clinic and in the kitchens. San Mueang has plenty of fresh food, space, water, sun, and shade to find peace and serenity. He has elephants around him, when he wants to seek out the comfort and healing that elephants can bring each other.
There is no timeline or expectations for rescued elephants to recover and find a family. We provide the cornerstones needed for any elephant to regain their health, identity, and dignity as the majestic being they are. You too can support San Mueang's journey back to health by visiting the park, sponsoring this young bull for six months or a year, or even by buying him an elephant cake when a special gift is needed.
