    I’m with Sue, Leslie, and Terry. For over 50 years, we have been the owners of multiple dogs, cats, other animals and the 32 rescue dogs who lived with us waiting to be adopted. We taught them only by using positive words and never negative ones. I always kept fresh food and water available so they didn’t have to be naughty. If they pee and poop inside, don’t yell at them. They can’t clean it up the mess themselves, so clean it up. If you can catch them getting ready, just take them outside and show them where to go. If you don’t want shoes and other things to be eaten, don’t leave them around. There’s no need to yell at them with “what did you do” over and over. A calmer voice with something like “good dog” when they’re good teaches them.
