[Music] hey are you how you done yeah as trays slide down the line here at the famed Highland Park cafeteria in Dallas large portions of mac and cheese and collard greens are ready to be served to hungry customers with the endless amounts of dishes on the menu it's a wonder how they keep everything straight when you're making the food back there how does everybody know how to make it right well we got recipe that recipe is that you've got lined is there any job here in that kitchen that you couldn't do if you had to maintain you know follow instructions meet mister can do it all better known as mr. B macaroni cheese on a menu every day he they call me mrs. B yeah but they don't call her this bones everybody calls me mrs. B he's been with a restaurant since 1956 and has become the Swiss Army knife of cafeteria workers when I started working kids and I tried to learn everything I mean I learned everything but I tried my goodness best to learn everything first thing the one night they run out of my rain pies chocolate meringue pie then I went back that I've been seeing and lead me Marine pilot all along I can't do that just put it quiet and whip it up and get it still and put your filling in the shell then brand it all put it over then you had a meringue pie you made that meringue pie that night yes sir we're coming out of Twitter except of songs that the song reads like this the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want while his talents as a chef might be what got mr. B his start he's developed into the heart and soul of this establishment each morning mr. B leads the staff in a morning prayer something they've been doing since the early days it's a testament to the foundation this restaurant was built on and something in which mr. B takes great pride there's other cafeterias but there's nothing like Highland Park cafeteria never has been why what's special well it's a family health interior when one heard we all heard I got to know everybody here and I got to know to manage the staff got to know the honors and I loved what I was doing and I love cooking it's a marathon muffin it's what a marathon got a lot of fruit in it and it seems most to walk through the cafeterias doors don't just come to grab a bite they come for the conversation the bond mr. B has formed with many of the customers is displayed with the notes they've left him over the years mr. B says it's all thanks to his philosophy of how to treat each and every one of them long time or not we have great customer now that to me a customer is always right why is always right because he pay you he paid you Sarah if he went through them we wouldn't have no job treat the customer right they always right they always right regardless what they if they roam they right after opening in 1925 the Highland Park cafeteria was christened America's cafeteria by the New York Times 31 years later mr. B joined the staff and to this day he hasn't skipped a beef we at t CR would now like to christen him America's favorite cafeteria worker and while the menu changes daily one thing is certain mr. B will be there to serve you for as long as he can what does this place mean to you man this is life life I love these people I've been here cause now I'm getting I'm finna hang it up I'm 80 I soon will be 88 March 27 you know the customers that come in those doors if you leave they're gonna miss you well yeah let's go has to be one of those things though after you leave will you miss them oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah what do you know 88 your steps get shorter but my steps is longer I can keep up with anybody I think you probably could yeah but you have to believe in yourself believe that you can do it the same as you have to believe the Lord same as you know it leave the Lord will do what he tell you do you see his power you need all y'all do believe in like is good oh yeah okay complain about if I complain nobody go listen [Music] you
