Wildlife experts from The Marine Mammal Center rescued a distressed sea otter pup that had been separated from its mother in Morro Bay, California. After securing the threatened Southern sea otter pup, the team recorded its vocalisations, which are crucial for helping mothers locate their young.
Knowing the pup would soon tire and stop calling, the experts used the recording to draw in the mother. After nearly two hours of searching and playing the audio, a female otter finally approached the boat. The team gently released the pup into the water, and the mother immediately reunited with her baby.
