All the videos on my website are embedded from Youtube. From what little information I can find Youtube is testing turning off videos for certain users that are not logged into a Youtube account or using a VPN to view videos. If you have a Youtube account, please try logging in and see if you can then view the videos on https://mvotd.com. If you're using a VPN, try turning it off to view the videos. There are a few other work arounds but they are pretty confusing to use. If you have the skills you might try searching Google for "Youtube Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" for a fix. I didn't see any that looked easy. Our best hope is that Youtube completes their test and realizes this is a big mistake. Until then, please check in daily to see if you still getting the error message. Sorry it took so long to figure out what was going on with this. Mel

Vehicle Description & History:
Shelby production was taken in-house under Ford control by 1968. This change allowed for more insight and development from the Ford execs in the production process. This also meant a few design changes that production year. The front end saw the intake scoops pushed out to the edge with twist hood locks, and the addition of rear positioned hood louvers. The grill was now highlighted in trim with rectangle Marchal or Lucas fog lamps still positioned there. The GT350 would now receive the 302ci V8 fitted with an oval Cobra air cleaner, Cobra aluminum intake with Holley 600cfm carburetion, highlighted by Cobra valve covers. Output would be rated at a respectable 250 horsepower. It would by a hot seller with 1,657 units built, but only 404 would be convertibles!

We are pleased to have the opportunity to represent this 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 Fastback finished in its factory ordered color of Lime Gold Metallic over Deluxe Black vinyl interior. Under the hood lies the original, numbers correct 302ci V8 engine mated to the factory 4-speed manual transmission and 3.89:1 rear axle ratio. Options on this example include power disc brakes, power steering, extra cooling package, wheel lip moldings, original Lucas fog lamps, tachometer & trip odometer, Visibility Group, Philco AM radio, roll bar with shoulder harnesses, Cobra lap belts front & rear, Interior Décor Group, 15” aluminum Shelby 10-spoke wheels, and Stewart Warner console gauges for oil pressure & amperage.

Our example was special order number 2507 coming from Francis-Ford Inc based in Harrisburg, PA. It was scheduled for build on November 21st,1967 but came in ahead of schedule being released on November 18th that year. It did not sell until after it was traded to Phillips Ford in nearby Manheim, PA on October 9th,1968 to Gerald Weitzel. He would trade in his 1965 Pontiac Lemans Convertible and finance the balance in an effort to purchase this lovely Shelby as a gift for his son serving in Vietnam. Upon his son's return, he would enjoy this Shelby, then fitted with American Racing mags until approximately 1979.

It traded hands to a collector in York, PA with another 20 years passing before selling again to an enthusiast prepared to complete a full, comprehensive nut & bolt restoration. As a wonderfully survived example, it would receive a bare metal professional repaint, all new interior carpet, complete seating upholstery & foams, interior center console received a new, correct Cobra embossed armrest pad, shifter boot, chrome trim bezel, along with fresh wood veneer. All component parts are new or rebuilt, including brake system, correct exhaust, and entire fuel system with stainless steel gas tank. All new exterior chrome trim is new. The engine compartment has been beautifully detailed under the hood as well as the presentation in the truck with spare, jack, lug wrench, and mat. The finished results are quite exceptional!

As for the originality, we found the engine stamp pad to read 8T105340, while our vehicle number would be 8T115340. In our professional assessment having reviewed several vehicle stamps over the years, finding seven of eight numbers to match, particularly the final 4 digits in this case, we are comfortably stating this is the “born-with” engine this car delivered new with. Quite possibly an error on the assembly line during production. The block itself is further stamped with 7H31 on the front also indicating a correct August 1967 production date with Cobra intake S2MS-9424A fitted with proper Holley S8MS-9510C/ List 4234 carburetor. The top loader transmission maintains factory inspection markings and tag stamped RUG N1 representing a correct 28-spine close ratio unit for a small block application. All in all, we have zero doubt this is 100% numbers matching and code correct example.

Included with this gorgeous Shelby is the original owner's manual, original purchase order, two original #ShelbyCobra hubcaps, set of original steel wheels, and copy of the Marti Report. This GT350 Fastback is also listed in the SAAC Registry (Shelby American Automobile Club). It recently had the carburetor professionally rebuilt and tuned, new air filter installed, along with new BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised white letter tires in 2021. We invite any questions. Please call to schedule an inspection.
