Check out a selection of funny and adorable photos of the pine marten, one of Britain’s rarest carnivores. It is a native mammal whose family members include the stoat, weasel, polecat, otter and badger. It is mostly found in the north of the UK, particularly Scotland. It prefers woodland habitats, climbing very well and living in tree holes, old squirrel dreys or even old bird nests. It feeds on small rodents, birds, eggs, insects and fruit and can even be encouraged to visit bird tables laden with peanuts and raisins. They usually have dark brown fur with a creamy-yellow throat patch known as a bib.
