Description

Cardier is a lovable dog with a sweet personality and a desire for human companionship. After spending seven months in a shelter, Cardier is now living with a foster family, waiting for her forever home. This video explores her journey, the challenges of integrating her with other dogs, and the dedication of her foster family to ensure she receives the love and attention she deserves.

Cardier’s Background

Cardier's journey began when her previous family, unable to care for her, left her at a shelter where she stayed for seven months. During this time, she was often confined to a crate, leading to a strong desire for companionship and interaction. Quote from Video: “Cardier was stuck in the shelter for 7 months because her former family didn't have time for her and said they kept her in a crate all day.” Despite living with a small dog in her previous home, Cardier became stressed when around her foster family’s dogs, Jake and Lola, necessitating separate living arrangements. Quote from Video: “It was pretty clear from the start that our dogs stressed her out and vice versa.”

Managing Separate Zones

To ensure Cardier's well-being, her foster family created separate zones within their home to accommodate her needs while keeping their dogs comfortable. This setup allows Cardier to have her own space without the stress of interacting with other dogs. Quote from Video: “We made two separate zones. Our dogs hang out in Katie's office during the day while Card's with me.” A daily routine involves coordinating time and attention for all pets, ensuring that Cardier receives individual care and outdoor time. Quote from Video: “Katie and I have to coordinate a ton to make sure she gets her outside time.”

Keeping Cardier Engaged

Cardier’s foster family uses various activities to keep her engaged and mentally stimulated. Toys, puzzles, and mats are used to occupy her while the family tends to their other pets. Quote from Video: “We make sure Cardier stays busy with snuffle mats, licky mats, and puzzles.” These activities not only keep Cardier entertained but also help her feel included as part of the family.

A Loving Companion

Despite the challenges of keeping Cardier separated from the other dogs, her foster family cherishes the time they spend with her. She is affectionate, loyal, and has a gentle demeanor that endears her to everyone she meets. Quote from Video: “She just wants to be your best friend and be a part of whatever you're doing.” Cardier is described as a "velcro dog," emphasizing her desire to be close to people and her preference for human company over other dogs. Quote from Video: “She’s super loyal and funny and an absolute velcro dog.”

Finding the Right Home

Cardier's foster family is committed to finding her a permanent home where she can thrive without the presence of other dogs. Her ideal family would provide her with the love, attention, and companionship she craves. Quote from Video: “She needs to find someone who doesn't have other dogs who can do this with her full-time.” Until her forever family is found, Cardier’s foster family continues to care for her, ensuring she is happy and well-cared for as she awaits adoption. Quote from Video: “We'll keep rotating our pack and make sure to keep her occupied while she waits to get adopted.” Cardier's journey is a testament to the dedication and compassion of her foster family, who work tirelessly to provide her with a loving environment. Their efforts highlight the importance of finding the right home for each animal, ensuring that they can live happily and comfortably with their future families.

  • CharMaine Added I think it's wonderful that she got out of the shelter but that is a lot juggling to keep that going.
Cartier looks like a super dog and she does need to be socialized. Life without a same-kind companion will not be a fun-filled, full life. I am praying that the Lord sends a workable solution for her soon.
