today we are going to take a closer look at ten of the biggest pets in the world number ten bandit bandit was known as the biggest raccoon in the world and it's no wonder why he weighed almost 75 pounds at one point which does not really sound like that much but given the fact that raccoons usually weigh anywhere between 14 to 23 pounds it's not hard to see why he gained the title of the world's fattest raccoon by the Guinness Book of World Records contrary to what many of you might assume his massive weight gain was not because of any eating disorder but from a rare thyroid condition which can affect cats dogs and even humans so how does one end up with a pet like this you may ask well as it turns out bandit was adopted by a dog and was raised as one of her puppies then was later taken in by a woman in Palmerton Pennsylvania wild story sadly after several years of fun and joy with his new owner bandit passed away in 2004 at the age of nine number nine Big Jake this list would not be complete without the tallest horse dwelling on land Big Jake with the majestic measurement of around 83 inches he officially became the tallest horse in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records On January 19 2010 Big Jake lives with his owner at the Smoky Hollow farm in Michigan USA and is not only the family's remarkable pet but also a workhorse pulling wagons is his full-time job and needless to say he is excellent in doing so when it comes to diet big Jake's meals are just as big as he is the strictly healthy diet includes one and a half bales of hay and 40 quarts of oats every single day so if any of you guys want to feel good and maybe even look a little bit taller now you know what you might need number eight Medusa there is absolutely no doubt that the majority of us love simple pets like cats and dogs but for some people these lovely companions just don't cut it sometimes they just end up getting pets that can eat you or maybe at the very least freak your neighbors out meet Medusa a reticulated python originally from Sulawesi Island in Indonesia now Medusa is not only known for being the pet of the famous edge of hell haunted house in Kansas City but also because she is truly truly gigantic in fact in 2011 Medusa was measured at a whole six point six seven meters that's slightly over 25 feet long she was 10 years old at the time and it took 15 people just to hold her massive 300-pound body I guess they just adopted her to spice things up in their haunted house anyway since adopting her she has grown to become even larger and feeding her is constantly an issue for the owners she eats rabbits and hogs for snacks and she's been also known to gobble up a 40 pound deer in one go now the reticulated pythons attacks on humans are uncommon but they do happen oftentimes it's because the animal is mistreated or isn't trained appropriately nevertheless if they do decide to attack you they are more than capable of swallowing you whole so we say visit the place with full foresight number seven Sammy the tortoise unless they mutate and start practicing ninjutsu the chances of adrenaline junkies finding turtles and tortoises as regular pets are pretty darn low after all they are slow scaly and shielded by shells but for those looking for more of a laid-back pet which will be with them for several more decades and will probably never run away turtles and tortoises might just be the kindred spirit they are looking for like Sammy the famous pet of the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Kapernick now you would think that being a pet of a star player would make it famous enough but Sammy is actually known for its weight Sammy now weighs around 120 pounds which is absolutely astonishing considering the fact that it used to fit in the palm of Colin's hand when it was first purchased a little over 15 years ago amazing don't you think he may have first become famous by association but he is now a celebrity in his own right number six Gibson now we all know that dogs can grow massively but Gibson took things to a whole new level a Great Dane from Grass Valley he arose to international fame when he was classified as the world's tallest dog by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2004 he was measured an unbelievable 43 inches tall up to the shoulder and almost double that when standing on his hind legs numerous appearances on popular TV shows made him even more popular so much so that a book was published to his name called Gibson speaks following all that an artificial turf company forever lawn even made him their brand ambassador in the year 2009 Gibson lost one of his front legs to a highly malignant form of bone cancer known as osteosarcoma which is often characterized by an unusually high level of the osteoid production meaning in simple terms our body starts making a new bone when it isn't needed despite the chemotherapy cancer continued to spread to the spine and lungs and Gibson ultimately died the same year at the age of seven his legacy however was kept alive by his son Brewster who also became a brand ambassador for the turf company number five eurisk ice burrs goldfish it's pretty hard to find someone who does not like a goldfish after all it looks adorable and is pretty easy to handle but depending on several environmental factors like the water quality and temperature and its diet grow to enormous sizes like your is's goldfish for instance it measured no more and no less than eighteen point seven inches from snap to tail on March 24th 2003 thus getting the title of the longest goldfish in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records though not much is really known about this peculiar little friend as the record was created 17 years ago it is safe to assume that the goldfish has passed away and while there have been too many instances of people claiming their goldfish the longest in the world your is's goldfish still officially remains the worthy title holder or still officially remains undisputed number 4 Zeus now as most of you might have guessed it's pretty much always expected that a Great Dane will always be the tallest dog in the world the average male measures anywhere between 29 and 33 inches tall which is absolutely astounding however that number still pales in comparison to the tallest dog of the same breed Zeus a 44 inch tall Great Dane from Michigan he was officially recorded as the planet's tallest dog in the 2013 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records surpassing giant George also a Great Dane only an inch shorter now it should not come as a surprise that Zeus is diet was just as impressive as his stature it consisted of 12 cups of food a day which is equivalent to almost 30 pounds of dog food unfortunately Zeus is no longer with us he passed away in September of 2014 at a young five years old number three Gary the capybara capybaras are the largest species of rodents in the world they basically look like dog sized guinea pigs and usually live in a pack of ten to 20 in dense forests in South America now they are pretty docile but are not necessarily the type of animals you would want to pet this however did not stop a couple from Texas from getting one basically they fell in love with the species during a holiday to Venice whele and jumped at the chance to adopt gary from a breeder in arkansas now since adopting him gary has grown to a huge 112 pounds but as the couple describes its apparently no different from owning a cat or a dog he is also an excellent company for the couple and enjoy swimming with them because of the fact that their pet rodent enjoys water a bit too much the couple has even built an above ground swimming pool he shares the pool with the family's tortoises but is seemingly not so happy in doing so as he thinks they are invading his space and there is nothing he can do about it while gary is an extremely well domesticated example many other people also own capybaras for their meat and skins number 2 Ralph but floppy ears wide eyes and cotton tails rabbits are one of the warmest looking creatures on the face of our planet seriously if these cute animals do not appeal to you you should consider becoming one of those people who volunteers to go to Mars maybe that is a bit harsh but the point is they are pretty incredible and even among them one apparently stands out meet Ralph the rabbit from Sussex in England the interesting thing about Ralph is at an insane 55 pounds compared to the average rabbits 12 pounds is pretty much the biggest rabbit anyone has ever seen his dad also weighed an impressive 45 pounds so it's safe to say size runs in the family Ralph's diet is just as impressive as he is he eats around forty dollars worth of food every single week now I know that might not sound like much but we are talking about a small vegetarian animal here because Ralph is such an incredible rabbit he lives at a horse Rescue Center in the English countryside and has all the freedom to run around pretty much anywhere he wants we've seen some fun and impressively large pets but there's still one left but first if you pets would you most want to own number one Stewie we already talked about dogs so it's only fair to finish off the list with a cat in general cats are so adorable and small that you are just going to want to hold them and pet them but maybe not with Stewie Stewie was a crazy forty eight point five inch cat from Nevada who held the records for both the longest domestic cat and the longest cat's tail in the world now like the Great Dane Dog the Maine Coon is pretty much always expected to be the longest cat in the world but even with that in mind Stewie was truly gigantic the famous cat was also a certified therapy cat and helped a lot with the recovery of people in a local Senior Center home sadly he died from cancer in 2013 at the age of eight but up until that point he was the longest cat in the world thanks for watching
