A Monastery in the Sky

It’s easy to spot the Katskhi pillar—it reaches up into the air like a skyscraper. This natural wonder is a limestone monolith dominating the hilly landscape in a remote part of Georgia. It’s been a site of religious significance going back to Pagan times. At present, the Orthodox Georgian Church maintains a monastery at the breathtaking site.
