Drop dead color combo, a performance motor, a 4-speed and air conditioning! What a combination. Very nicely restored from the ground up. True "A" code designating it was born a performance 289, well it has a bit more performance now!
EXTERIOR: The classic fastback design is sleek. The body on this one is arrow straight with no visible rust or damage. They deleted all emblems making it even more sleek. The Raven Black paint is polished smooth and glossy. You can shave in its reflection. It was dressed up with Shelby style mirrors and a billet grill. Of course, those sparkling chrome wheels really pop. They are staggered size US Mags, 17s in front, 18s in back and are wearing performance sneakers.
INTERIOR: Wow, the red is amazing against the black! To make it even better it is a pony deluxe which includes molded door panels, deluxe upholstery, and wood grain dash. It all looks new from carpet to headliner. The rear seat folds flat and everything back there looks great. The dash area is all restored. Interior lights work. Let's not forget about that Hurst 4-speed sticking out of the floor!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Performance built 289 making 300+ hp. It has an Edelbrock kit which includes aluminum heads and intake and a cam kit with roller rockers. The air is sucked in through a Holley Brawler 650 carb with electric choke and the air is blown out through a set of tri-y headers. Upgraded Pertronix electronic ignition system. It's dressed nicely with cast aluminum Ford Racing valve covers and air cleaner. It features power steering and a dual reservoir master cylinder. A new Classic Auto Air a/c system was installed too. Everything else in the motor compartment looks new and proper. It's even finished off with reproduction hoses and clamps, Reproduction Autolite battery and the Fomoco washer fluid bag is hooked up.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and jamb are painted slick. New weatherstrip. Inside is clean metal painted black. Complete with trunk mat, tire cover and spare. You know the back panel opens into the interior on fastbacks.
UNDERSIDE: The front end steering and suspension looks completely rebuilt and has an upgraded swaybar. The rear suspension was replaced, it has lowering springs and new shocks. Upgraded with drilled and slotted front disc brakes. E-brake is hooked up. The fuel system was replaced. Custom aluminized exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and the tips exit through the valance. Looking up at the motor it is fresh: new starter, alternator, fuel pump and a Mororcraft oil filter. Correct 4-speed trans with a new clutch kit and a Hurst shifter. A rebuilt driveshaft connects to a rebuilt rear end with 3.50 posi gears. The floors and frame rails look rock solid.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and aligned the power steering belt, adjusted the carb, replaced speedometer gear in trans, adjusted the turn signal canceler, adjusted and lubed the trunk latch and bled the brakes.
Slick version of a classic Mustang. The colors are killer and make it exciting to look at. The performance 289, 4-speed and a/c make it a blast to drive!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom.
