This stunning 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible is packing a fuel injected 427 V8 with a TKX 5-speed manual transmission. As the NCRS Shipping Data Report indicates the GM Official Production Date was December 28th, 1965. The original delivery dealer was Ammon Smith Auto located in York, PA. The car spent its entire life in York, PA and was taken off the road in late 1970’s. From the information gathered it was an original 427/425hp “L72” car with side pipes. In March 2021, it was resurrected and the product of a meticulous body off restoration. The plan was to create a car similar to the way GM built it with some discreet upgrades that would appeal to the C2 enthusiast who doesn’t want a restomod. The plan came to fruition resulting in a masterpiece. The beautifully designed body is equipped with a big block hood. The body was stripped to bare glass and countless hours were invested making it very straight. It was repainted in the factory correct color of Laguna Blue which is stunning. All Deltron and Vibrance PPG products were used throughout. The high quality paint was recently detailed to a glossy finish. It has a new white vinyl top which fits like a glove. It’s one of only 8,463 equipped with a factory auxiliary hardtop for model year 1966. The painted hardtop comes with a new hard top stand for display or storage purposes. The front windshield and side glass was replaced new. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced including the glass trim, wiper arms, driver’s side mirror, power antenna, emblems, front and rear bumpers. The car was outfitted with new custom made Rocket Attack 18” brushed wheels with Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires. The exterior is complemented with a matching new blue interior with Al Knock upholstery. The blue dash with black fascia, gauges and glovebox looks great. Some custom features include a new Lectric Limited wiring harness, electronic tachometer conversion, console with custom shift pattern plate and black carpeted floor mats. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many new parts. The back side of the hood, firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were repainted in satin black. The car is powered by an original 427/425hp “L72” V8 engine with Holly Sniper fuel injection. The engine was rebuilt Scat Rods, Speed Pro pistons, solid lifters with EDm oiling and Nostalgia LS6+ Comp Cam. The matching cylinder heads were reconditioned with hardened seats and stainless valves. The compression was reduced to 10.5:1 so it’s pump gas friendly. The engine is cooled with a Flow Kooler water pump and DeWitt black aluminum radiator. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and new Hi-Flow side exhaust pipes. The engine is coupled to a new Silver Sport Tremec TKX 5-speed close ratio manual transmission with a McLeod clutch. The power is transferred to the original FB rear end with 4.11 gears which was completely rebuilt. It was setup with a custom Borgeson power steering system that works excellent. The undercarriage is highly detailed throughout with many new parts. The original chassis was sand blasted, epoxy primed and painted satin black. It was setup with a Van Steel coil over conversion system for the front and rear suspension which also includes tubular upper and lower control arms, big sway bars and offset trailering arms. It’s equipped with a Wilwood 4-wheel disc braking system with custom master cylinder, 13” rotors, 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers. This car was recently serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that’s included. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.
