Dang, this Crown Vic is gorgeous! We acquired it from a very well-respected Ford collector. He has had many, many outstanding Fords from the 1950s and this was the one he kept the longest- 26 years! As a matter of fact, as he aged, he let the others go but clung onto this one, his last one.
EXTERIOR: Again, it is a knockout! It's a handsome body but the trim is what really makes it. The sweeping side molding makes it look like a dart shooting forward. The "basket handle" trim over the roof is totally unique and divides the roof or the glass roof. Plus, all of the other trim on the car from the big grill and bumper up front to the rocker moldings and stone shields on the sides and the extended rear bumper with built in exhaust ports. Then of course it has the optional continental kit plus a rear mount antenna and fender skirts. The body is clean, straight and has proven itself, it was restored at least 30 years ago! The 2 tone red and black combination is stunning and has a smooth glossy finish. I mentioned the sparkling trim on the car, how about those chrome wire wheels, they are the icing on the cake. We just put new radial white walls on the car.
INTERIOR: The red and black interior is a perfect match to the exterior. Down on the floor it has bright red carpet with embroidered mats. The reproduction upholstery and door panels look practically new. It has a working power seat! Upgraded above the headliner and visors look new and the dome light works. Of course, it's half a headliner, the see through top is the other half! The metal trim is painted, and the dash area looks great.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a smooth running 292 that starts right up every time. It is all stock with its teapot 4 barrel carb, stock air cleaner and Thunderbird script valve covers. Everything is proper and clean. The washer bag is hooked up, the battery is secured, and it is the first year for 12 volt system.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The spare tire swings out of the way to open the trunk. Inside is clean metal painted all black. It has a reproduction mat, whitewall spare and a jack.
UNDERSIDE: It is rock solid, the floors, braces and frame are clean and were freshened up with black paint. Mechanically it has been maintained as needed. Dual exhaust has old school Smithy mufflers that exits through the bumper.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and installed new radial white walls and recalibrated the speedometer.
Talk about bang for the buck, this car will turn heads everywhere it goes! It's artwork you can drive!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
