The Air Float is one of the forefathers of American camper travel trailer designs. Distinguishable by it's porthole windows. In
1947 they switched from a masonite exterior to a lightweight aluminum. It's very sought after because of their unique design and excellent interior layout. The all wood interior gives a very warm and classy feeling. It packs a lot of features in a 20 ft space! The kitchen setup is expertly designed and the overall design was careful not to cover the porthole windows. James Dean made them popular, he traveled and lounged in one just like this.
We bought it out of Southern California from a gentleman that has a deep love for vintage campers. He enjoys bringing them back to their original glory, safety and quality are both important to him.
Exterior: All moldings, windows and vents were removed, cleaned and reinstalled with a polyurethane sealant. The front and rear ends were reframed to original specs.
New Bargman lock with 2 keys. Cool round top door and the restorer built a round top screen door to match.
Interior: It was restored to authentic condition. New birch paneling with heat reflective insulation. It has a solid floor with new flooring. Vintage white glitter counter tops. New foam and upholstery on the dinnete and gaucho sofa. The cabinets were restored or replicated to original design. The rear closet doors open and latch together creating a private bedroom space. The appliances are correct and functional. New 110 electrical and propane lines throughout. Propane powered sconces were replicated using original photos.
