    Step back a bit further:
    * they were called "afghans": “Afghan” first appeared in English usage in the late 1700's as a name for the Pashtuns of eastern and southern Afghanistan. That country is known for its distinctive textiles, colorful carpets and lustrous karakul wool, so it's sort of logical that “afghan” was picked up to refer to knitted or crocheted blankets.
    * I remember school maps pulled down over chalkboards; made of slate
    * those bamboo paper plate holders prevented many a messy accident
    * I was rarely sick. When I had to stay home it was always with a book. (We didn't have a TV until I was 5.) Thanks, Mel.

    At 75 I actually remembered about 95% of all that was shown here. Amazing how things came and went. I sold Tupperware so I really did remember that pitcher was for Lemonade or cold water or even Iced Tea. We had a kitchen phone with the long cord too haha... . Nice seeing all those MEMORABLE things ... Thanks...

    OMG!!! At 7:08! I STILL HAVE THAT SAME TABLE AND CHAIR SET!!! We bought ours in 1995 at Badcock Furniture!! WOW!
