During the 1950's America saw main streets across the country develop in to a lively and quite remarkable location... where people could shop for anything and everything while also gathering for social events. Join us as we take a stroll down memory lane in today's video. Thanks for watching.

I truly miss those days, and feel sorry for the current generations that have never been so blessed with that type of life. This was awesome and brought a tear to my eye.
Neat and memorable ---really great!
Nostalgic. Brought back good memories of growing up.
Miss those days.
Nostalgic, yes, but I noticed everyone was white and middle class.
very nice, thanks
I lived in another country, so Main Street was unknown. Still, it was an era, perhaps now gone, but not forgotten. Time and the world has moved on.
as usual..great great show..good luck and thanks for sharing with us..
Brings back memories.
Loved this Video!! Why does everything 'good' always have to change?? I lived back then~It was wonderful!!! I find 'now a day' disgusting as compared to the Video!!! Those were the days my friend!!!!!
My husband and I liked the video! The only part that seemed to be missing was the local churches and families going to church on Sunday. You mentioned buying shoes for Sunday, but that's it. I think this addition would add to the total look of family life in the 50"s.
Brooklyn, New York, didn't have a Main Street but we did have a main street aka Flatbush Avenue whose anchor was, and still is, Erasmus Hall High School.
I loved it! Brought back great memories!
Those were the best of times and so carefree. I can remember going with my grandma to the Woolworths and having a soda in a cone cup set inside the silver holder.
Lydia and N , Why can't things just be simplified as good ole simplicity. No one ..forgot this or that asnd such . We're trying to get through each and every day and great ole memories like this one here that Mel Sent ... I loved it .. Chill out People.., My Gosh , Life is truely , TRUE SHORT ... Thanks Mel ... Have a Great week
Lydia Comment Below: If you watch again at the 2 min mark you will see several poc. The man coming toward the camera and directly under the "U" in Drug . . . and there appears to be several ladies of color walking the other way right next to him. And the photo appears to be in Hollywood (CA or FL, unsure), you can see the name on the bus. Please stop looking for something to complain about and just enjoy the point of the video. Geez.
You know what they say: Once an adult, twice a child. I was a child then and I just relived those precious moments when life was simple and so much fun. Our Constitution was the law of the land and we honored it. It was some of the best of America. Challenges but we worked through them in civilized ways. So grateful to have been around for that. Thank you so much, Mel, for the ride down Memory Lane.
Those were definitely wonderful times. Folks were friendly as were the people that worked in the shops. It was always a pleasure to go downtown and walk around. So sad those days are gone forever.
I certainly remember all this, but you didn't include the movie theaters where we could spend our dime on Saturday afternoon and see a double header, newsreel and cartoon.
Very nostalgic, thanks. I remember looking at my skeleton feet inside the shoes before we bought them. Great fun.
It was the best of times and those who were not around in this era missed out. I treasure the memories of my youth and think back some time to things we did and experienced.
