    I learned to drive on my dads 1950 Nash Ambassador. The front seats went all the way back to meet the rear seats and formed a full size mattress.

    WOW - Memories - I had a retractable hard top vehicle and do remember some of these things - They were pretty cool.

    I am 83, and remember most of these, since My dad sold cars most of my childhood.. and every night brought a different "demonstrator, helping put 4,000 miles on them to let the customer know the car was pretested. One i dont think is mentioned here is the 1950 Hudson Hornet, the first 5 foot wide body. The first one he brought home, he test drove it down Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville at 100 mph and burned up the motor. He had not been told you cannot do that till the car is "broken in." Company just returned it to the factory ! The wide hudson was able to float if you ran off the St. John's bridge! They did not have vibrant colors in those days, so I only remember black ones coming home.
