He mentions Avacado, but neglects Harvest Gold and Copper. Smile.

When appliances were avacado green, there was a choice for a mustard yellow too, just as popular, I think... and what about the shag carpets???

These were great years. Never got my avocado kitchen, only a blender.

  • Mary Jane

I remember these and a few of them I'm happy are gone. Lovely trip back in time.

The video forgot to mention that another draw of the soda fountain was the JUTEBOX (you know, that record playing machine) not to forget the 45 rpm's of the times or the (as a teenage male) the waitresses were teenage females.

Loved the Drive-In movies. Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In! Dancing in the school gym on Friday nights were always fun. Hanging out at the soda fountain was the place to meet. Thanks, Mel.

What a great, safe way to grow up. I remember being very young, having the job of putting either a card with 1 or 2 on it in the front window for the ice man!!!! School was cancelled if the snow storm was too bad. The two school bus drivers would decide if it was too bad for the buses to travel. How simple our lives were.

  • Patricia Yager Delagrange

Yep - I remember most of this stuff though I was quite young.

I got a kick out of the milk delivery one. My Dad was a milkman back in the 60's and 70's. One reason that home delivery went out was that, as more women were entering the work force, no one was at home to be there when the deliveries were made. You can't leave dairy products on the door step very long. A lot of these bring a tear to an old man's eyes! LOL! Thanks Mel.

Amazing how trends seem to slide from one to the next in such a short time.

    Slinky!

Not a thing, but rather an fun tradition... 'MAY DAY' on May 1st of every year is sadly unknown to many.

  • Rosemary

I had a set of avocado green stainless steel pots and pans that I ordered from the Sears and Roebuck catalog in 1972.
